The Grape Escape Wine Trail - Wine Month 2016

The Cyprus Food and Nutrition Museum in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation invites you to explore the age-old art of winemaking in a specially designed wine trail dubbed The Grape Escape Wine Trail, which falls under the Cyprus Wine Month festivities this November. Indulge yourself to a deluxe excursion in the wine making region of Cyprus, discover the serenity of vineyards, savour the taste of exquisite wines, enjoy a traditional meze meal at a local tavern, and trace the deep history of the island’s wines.

The Grape Escape Wine Trail aims to introduce the avid traveller to the magical world of Cypriot wines, initiate the visitor to the time-honoured tradition of winemaking and wine tasting, and offer to the participants an exceptional gastronomic and interactive educational experience. In the course of the trail, all participants can expect a full day of wine and grape products tasting, as they will be visiting the Commandaria Museum at Zoopigi, the Cyprus Wine Museum at Erimi and the Tsiakkas Winery in Pitsilia, while during recess they will savour the mouth-watering flavours of the Cypriot cuisine at the Symposio traditional tavern at Pelendri. The trail will set off early in the morning from Lemesos on a fully air-conditioned tour bus with Mr. Demetris Pavlides as our on-board guide, who is a hospitality and culinary arts instructor specializing in teaching classes related to wine.

The trail is addressed primarily to tourists and all guided tours will be given in English. Reservation is mandatory and open on 10 October 2016 and up to 5 days before the trail dates. Late reservations subject to availability. Spaces are limited. Reservations accepted only by adults. Participation of underage children allowed only with parental escort, the responsibility for children oversight lies with the parents. The participation fee is €25 per person, which includes museum admissions, wine tasting and lunch (drinks not included), while the transport and guide cost is subsidized by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. The total cost of participation is prepaid and non-refundable.
