The performance lecture «Under-standing dramaturgy» emerged as a practice-based response to a research on the practice of dramaturgy in contemporary dance. The performance lecture, advocating the interrelation between theory and practice, deals with the material of the research from a performative perspective. Having as starting point the perception of the spectators of what may dramaturgy is and with the use of a theoretical discourse but also humor, it attempts to explore some aspects of dramaturgy. At the same time, the body of the performer-researcher on stage, functions as a signifier point, raising questions about the position of the dramaturg. Τhe intention of this approach is to feed the research with new perspectives that may emerge.

«Under-standing dramaturgy» is a work in progress that its first version will take shape in the context of το theYardresidency17. After the show there will be a feedback session according to the method of Das Theatre University. It is a structured way of giving feedback to an artist that help initiate a constructive dialogue between the artist and the audience after the piece is performed officially. Its clear but open structure allows for everybody to articulate their experience without being judgmental and by doing that they are actively participating in communicating ideas which came about in the piece.
