Contemporary artists from Cyprus, Greece and Italy, who have either been inspired by his art in a conscious or unconscious level or their work shares the approach and techniques of the Italian artist, have been invited. The show is not just a return to Caravaggio’s art, neither a dedication and devotion to history, but rather a reflection of the contemporary gaze of the artist today, through the prism of tradition and history.

Unquestionably, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) was, and still is, an important Baroque artist with a strong impact on artists of his generation as well as his contemporaries. Amongst other things, the dramatic atmosphere and theatricality, the dialectic of light and shadow (his famous chiaroscuro), his strong realism, the expansion of the action and movement of his images in the viewer's space and the use of lenses and mirror to display his models on the canvas, are elements that have been assimilated by contemporary artists such as Joseph Beuys, Jannis Kounellis, Andres Serrano and Frank Stella.

Participating artists: Klitsa Antoniou (Cyprus), Pantelis Chandris (Greece), Marianna Constanti (Cyprus), Paolo Incarnato (Italy), Evdokia Kyrkou (Cyprus), Maria Lianou (Cyprus), Eleni Lyra (Greece), Fotini Poulia (Greece), Andrea Rosset (Italy), Andreas Savva (Cyprus).
