Desmōtēs - Faneromeni 17 Arts Festival

Music & dance performance inspired from the collections of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Cypriot civilization, providing the basis for the creation of the visual material projected during the show on the setting’s fabric and on the specially designed dress of the female dancer, serving as “graphic score” for the musicians and as a “motion prompter” for the dancer in combination with recorded sounds.

The show’s thematics draws on the island’s myths and folklore but also on Greek mythology treating the idea of bonds as obstacles, punishment, sacrifice and means of redemption. As suggested by the title “Desmōtēs”, myths such as the sacrifice of Prometheus, the punishment of Arachne the weaver, and Persephone’s captivity provide the source of inspiration.

An artistic endeavor bound to fascinate and thrill!
