Lungs (Pnevmones)

Maria Karolidou’s Theatre Ensemble presents, for the first time in Cyprus, Duncan Macmillan’s play Lungs, which will take place from February 10-26th at Space, Nicosia. The play has already been performed in many countries around the world and it has been praised for the subjects it dares to bring up, as well as its original style of writing its direct approach, its humour and the way it manages to give out voice to a generation whose voice has not been heard, so much.

The performance highlights a couple's relationship as it evolves from the moment the question of bringing a child into the world is raised and it explores the potential repercussions of their decision on their relationship but also on the world around them. In a time of natural disasters, climate change, where resources and natural resources are scarce, two thinking people are trying to make the right decisions about their relationship, their future, but also about the future of the planet.

Duncan Macmillan’s unconventional love story brings out, with brutal honesty, the anxieties and worries of a generation that tries to redefine its existence into the world and towards the great questions of love, life and death, against the limitations and inadequacies of today’s world.

The play is suitable for people over 17 years of age.
