‘Romantic Café au lait’: Piano Recital for 4-hands


After the success of the piano recital for four hands ‘Café au lait’, the piano duo Leoni Hadjithoma and Borislav Alexandrov, return to Technopolis 20, on Sunday, 17th of February 2019, at 18:00, this time for a romantic programme with classical works that speak about love!

Like the previous recital, 20 fingers, a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and a delicious piece of cake will take you on a journey that's going to wake up all your senses! Have you ever been to a classical music concert and been allowed to eat and drink while watching the performance? In most cases, that's strictly forbidden! But we don't mind!

The two pianists have been collaborating as a piano duo since 2002. Since then they been participating in festivals and giving recitals in Europe and the Middle East. They often collaborate with orchestras in Cyprus and abroad performing piano concertos for 2 pianos. They often give educational concerts for schools in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Education of Cyprus. Their repertoire includes works by Mozart, Schubert, Liszt, Brahms, Rachmaninoff as well as many contemporary composers.

A few words about the musicians:
Borislav Alexandrov was born in Bulgaria. He started taking piano lessons at the age of 5 years old and only 3 years later he gave his first piano recital and collaborated as a soloist with a symphony orchestra for the first time. He continued his studies at the National School of Music 'Liubomir Pipkov', Bulgaria and State Music Academy 'Pantcho Vladigerov' in Sofia, Bulgaria with Prof. Dora Lazarova holding a Bachelor and Master Degree in Piano Performance with distinction. He is a PhD candidate in Music at the South-Western University 'Neophyt Rilski', Bulgaria. During his studies, he took part in masterclasses of well-known artists such as Eric Heidziek, Michael-Anchel Sheba, and Bojidar Noev, he has been awarded with prizes and medals national and international piano and chamber music competitions 'Wiener Classic' piano competition, 'Music & Earth'. He has performed widely in Europe and the Middle East, taking part in recitals and music festivals organised by the British Council, Cyprus Composer Society, Cyprus Opera Organization, Evangelia Tjiarri Foundation, Avantgarde Cultural Foundation, embassies and others and has collaborated many times with Symphony Orchestras as a soloist. He has recorded works the National Radio of Bulgaria and the National Television of Bulgaria. Many of his students have been awarded with prizes in national and international piano competitions. He has participated in conferences abroad and is a member of the International Piano Duo Association. After his studies he was appointed as a piano teacher at the soloist department of the State Music Academy Pancho Vladigerov and the Music Department of the South-Western University 'Neophyt Rilski', Bulgaria. Since 2004, he works in Cyprus as a piano teacher at the Nicosia Music Lyceum and the European University.

Leoni Hadjithoma was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. She graduated from the European Conservatory, Nicosia and the State Music Academy 'Pantcho Vladigerov' in Sofia, Bulgaria holding a Bachelor and Master Degree in Piano Performance with distinction, as well as the European University, Cyprus receiving a Master Degree in Music Education. She was recently awarded a scholarship by the 'Leventis Foundation' to continue her studies as a PhD candidate in Music Education at the European University. During her studies, she took part in masterclasses of well-known artists and has been awarded with prizes in national and international piano and chamber music competitions such as the 'Evangelia Tjiarri' piano competition and 'Nikola Stefanov' competition for piano-flute duos. She has performed widely in Europe and the Middle East, taking part in recitals and festivals organised by the British Council, Cyprus Composer Society, Cyprus Opera Organization, Evangelia Tjiarri Foundation, Avantgarde Cultural Foundation, embassies and others and has collaborated with Symphony Orchestras as a soloist. She has recorded works for CYBC, Classic FM Bulgaria, National Radio of Bulgaria and the National Television of Korea. Many of her students have been awarded with prizes in national piano and chamber music competitions. Since 2004 she works in Cyprus as a piano teacher at the Nicosia Music Lyceum.
