Dream Theatre Productions presents a site-specific performance adapted from Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield’s play The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). The play ingeniously joins together some of the British playwright’s greatest works, often daring to even mock some of his gravest tragedies.
Envisioned with a number of alternating roles and characters, the play is infused with improvisation as well as audience interaction and puts forth a radical interpretation of works such as, Romeo and Juliet, Titus Andronicus and Othello, presented through introductions and links that help the guide the audience. Special focus on concise versions of Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra and Macbeth, as well as Hamlet.
The play is set (and will also take place) in an outdoor natural setting, without the help of stereotypical sets, with the participating actors often going beyond the roles they take on. Furthermore, the text is shaped through work done collaboratively not only before, but also, during the show.
The show is centred on movement, directed and enhanced through the music. Movement, music and direction, along with the text of Shakespeare in a Nutshell result in a performance that takes into consideration the natural environment of the communities and the traditions of the villages of Cyprus, within the framework of program Cultural Decentralization 2021.
