Space, Language and the Responsibility of the Artist

In the framework of the exhibition And what is left of the rose, is only the name, the symposium “Space, Language and the Responsibility of the Artist” will take place at the Melina Merkouri Hall on 26 March 2018, Monday at 17:00 - 20:00.
The theme for the forthcoming conference ensued through the concept implementation of the exhibition. The role of the artist and art in general, the space of action for the visual arts and the way in which a relationship of communication is constructed are summed up in the following three thematics: the artist's responsibility, space and language. Responsibility is perceived as the action itself, the space - social, visual, political - as the field of action and the language as the means of communication in the process of realizing the action. To what extent is there a common space and a common language of communication and how is it necessary? The symposium presents speakers of different disciplines such as visual artists, art theorists, architects, sociologists, journalists and expressive arts therapist, aiming at a pluralism over the proposed themes. The featured speakers are Athina Antoniadou, Monika Asimenou, Glafkos Koumides, Alexandros Kyriakides, Andreas Onoufriou, Alexis Papadopoulos, Evanthia (Evi) Tselika, Melissa Tsimon, Alkis Hadjiandreou and Stavros Christodoulou.

The symposium will be held in Greek and is open to the public.
